Memorial Day weekend is here and it’s time to celebrate in the sunshine with friends and family.
Monterey is full of fun events happening this weekend. Whether you plan to be outside enjoying the sunshine or eating your favorite meal, you should definitely check out these local festivals.
The Salinas Valley Fair is happening May 16-19. This year’s theme is Country Nights and Carnival Lights. Enjoy rodeos, food and carnival games. There is something fun here for the whole family, and who doesn’t love a good carnival?
This past Thursday, groundbreaking at East Garrison got underway! This is the first phase of construction on the 244-acre master-planned community, which will offer a wide variety of housing options on the grounds of historic Fort Ord.
Union Community Partners (UCP) CEO Dustin Bogue, along with the fifth district supervisor, Dave Potter, delivered addresses to commemorate the occasion. Mr. Bogue was quoted saying, “We are excited that our vision for this unique and truly comprehensive community is beginning to come to life with the first phase of development underway, we have begun to lay the foundation for a dynamic and inviting community that will serve residents for years to come while preserving the legacy of East Garrison’s past.”
When most people think of Monterey County, they think of a beautiful coastline along the base of the green rolling hillsides covered with vineyards.
With over 175 vineyards, this 90-mile long valley is the home to some of the most unique and popular wine growing companies in the nation and boasts some of the best tasting wines.
The Wine Enthusiast Magazine recently named Monterey County as one of “2013’s Top Ten Wine Travel Destinations.” Did you know that if you were to visit a different Monterey County vineyard every weekend for a year, you would still have so many more to explore?
Because there are so many choices, it can be difficult to decide where to start your wine tour. One of our favorite vineyards to visit is Ventana Wines, which is owned by a small group of local growers who have lived and worked in this region for generations. Ventana is the single most award-winning vineyard in America.
