Meet Logan, East Garrison’s first baby

Logan William Buenrostro, born July 18th, is the first baby to be born to an East Garrison family. And he’s already enjoying the neighborhood. His parents, Danielle and Michael Buenrostro, have him out and about, taking advantage of the beautiful East Garrison weather.

“Our home has an outdoor room, which we just love,” commented Danielle. “We have some rocking furniture out there, and we can sit with the baby and visit with neighbors. It’s just great for Logan to get fresh air and a change of scenery. We’re really in a sweet spot in terms of weather—it’s so much nicer than the North Carolina summers I’m used to.”

Family

Danielle met Michael while he was stationed in North Carolina while in the U.S.Army. After his deployments in Afghanistan, the couple wanted to put down roots, and the Monterey Area was a natural choice for Michael, a Castroville native.

The Buenrostros have lived at East Garrison for one year. Thinking they might be starting a family, they selected the Hartford Plan in the Heritage Collection. Even with family visiting to help out when Logan was born, there was plenty of room for all.

Danielle especially likes the open kitchen/family room, so she can keep an eye on Logan while she’s cooking.

“The kitchen island makes it a great gathering place,” Danielle noted. “When people come over, everyone just loves hanging out there. It’s really the heart of the home.”

We can just imagine little Logan in about six years doing his homework while his parents get dinner ready—all sharing the events of the day. Until then, our sincere congratulations to the Buenrostro family!

“Fall”-ing for Fun in Monterey County

Screen Shot 2013-03-29 at 2.57.22 PM

More than forty thousand music fans flocked to the recent 57th annual Monterey Jazz Festival. This Monterey event featured over 500 artists performing on eight stages from September 19-21, and the festival had plenty of other activities to offer locals and visitors. A Taste Tent kept festival goers in high spirits, and an auction and exhibition showcased jazz memorabilia.

If you missed the Jazz Festival, there are still plenty of note-worthy and exciting events happening in Monterey near our East Garrison community this fall.

Every October, the Butterfly Parade and Bazaar returns to Pacific Grove. This tradition goes back 75 years and celebrates the Monarch Butterfly’s heritage at Pacific Grove. Each autumn, thousands of Monarch Butterflies migrate back to Pacific Grove’s ideal climate, and cluster and drift among the trees at Monarch Grove Sanctuary. This annual migration garnered Pacific Grove the nickname “Butterfly Town, USA.” Highlights of the Butterfly Parade include pint-sized school kids dressed up like butterflies, sea otters, and farmers. The Butterfly Parade and Bazaar take place Saturday, October 4th.

Racing fans will speed over to Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca to watch the SCCA National Championship Runoffs this fall. Amateur drivers complete for three days in categories that include formula race cars, American muscle cars, touring cars and more. Start your engines and head over to the raceway October 10- 12 for this adrenaline-pumping event.

A different kind of race will take place at Monterey State Historic Park with the Alzheimer’s Association Monterey Walk to End Alzheimer’s event. Participants will walk the 2.6 mile route to bring awareness and fundraise for Alzheimer’s care, support, and research. There is no fee to register, but participants are encouraged to fundraise. Children, strollers, and dogs are welcome, so the entire family can take part in this inspiring community event. The Monterey Walk to End Alzheimer’s takes place on October 11th.

If you are visiting any one of these fabulous events, make time for a stop at East Garrison. Now selling three collections of homes by Benchmark Communities, East Garrison offers homebuyers Monterey County living at incredible prices. Check back for more events taking place in and around the Monterey area, where extraordinary coastal events are always close to home.
